Built by runners. Driven by experience.
Running Events Ireland is an Irish event management business specialising in the planning, organisation and delivery of running events.
Led by René Borg, we bring together a passion for running, detailed knowledge of the sport and hands-on experience managing the many moving parts of a successful event.
From road races and community running events to demanding trail and mountain-running competitions, we understand what it takes to transform an idea into a well-organised race.
We work with running clubs, charities, commercial organisers, community groups and event promoters to provide professional expertise where it matters most.
Whether supporting an established event or helping bring a new race to life, our approach is straightforward: understand the event, build the right systems, assemble the right people and deliver a quality experience.
Our Philosophy
Great running events don’t happen by accident.
An outstanding running event is about more than a start line, a finish line and a marked course.
It requires careful planning, informed decisions, strong relationships and the ability to manage changing circumstances.
Participants should be able to concentrate on their race, confident that the essential details have been taken care of.
Organisers should have confidence that their event is being delivered by people who understand the challenges involved.
We believe the best events balance five essential principles:
1. Safety and responsibility
Participant welfare, suitable course planning, appropriate risk management and clear operational procedures must underpin every event.
2. The runner experience
Every decision, from route selection and signage to aid stations and finish-line organisation, should consider the experience of the people taking part.
3. Operational excellence
Clear responsibilities, effective communication, realistic schedules and sound contingency planning turn good ideas into successful events.
4. Local knowledge and relationships
Running events depend on positive relationships with communities, landowners, authorities, volunteers and local suppliers.
5. Long-term sustainability
A successful event should be capable of returning year after year, supported by sound commercial decisions, responsible use of resources and a positive relationship with its surroundings.
Meet René Borg
Race Director. Event Manager. Runner. Coach.
Running Events Ireland is led by René Borg, whose professional work spans race organisation, event operations, endurance coaching and the wider running community.
As Director of both Running Events Ireland and Running Coach Ireland, René brings two complementary perspectives to event management: the operational requirements of the organiser and the expectations and needs of the runner.
His experience encompasses the practical demands of running events, including course planning, event control, logistics, coordination of operational teams and the management of complex trail-running environments.
This is particularly valuable in events where terrain, access, weather, distance and participant abilities create challenges beyond those of a conventional road race.
René’s approach places a strong emphasis on preparation, clear systems and practical problem-solving.
The objective is not simply to get an event across the line. It is to build a reliable event operation that organisers, participants, communities and delivery partners can trust.

The right expertise, at the right time.

Running Events Ireland works with a network of experienced service providers, local contacts and operational personnel who contribute to race delivery.
Depending on the requirements of an event, this may include:
- Timing and results providers.
- Medical and first-aid services.
- Marshals, volunteers and event crews.
- Course-marking and route-management teams.
- Equipment and infrastructure suppliers.
- Transport and logistical support.
- Signage, merchandise and event materials.
- Insurance and other specialist professional services.
- Local authorities, landowners and access stakeholders.
We help organisers identify, coordinate and manage the resources needed to deliver their events effectively.
Our Commitment
Events worth running. Experiences worth repeating.
Our measure of success is not simply whether an event takes place.
It is whether participants leave with a positive experience, organisers achieve their objectives, operational teams can take pride in their work and the event has a strong foundation for the future.
We take pride in building running events that combine ambition with discipline, enthusiasm with preparation and memorable experiences with professional execution.
